It's Here!

My BloggersFuel reviewer's kit arrived safe and sound at my place of work yesterday morning. The office manager paged me immediately and told me to get up there because they could smell the coffee in the package.

I arrived as soon as I could to rip open the box. Just that quickly, the office was permeated with the heavenly aromas of freshly roasted beans. I realized then that
Boca Java was going to send me to an entirely new level of coffee appreciation.

Later on in the evening I took a look at each one of the 6 packages of coffee, trying to decide which one to try this morning. New Media Mavericks won out. It is a "medium roast from the prized Tarrazu region of Costa Rica with excellent body and robust richness." Juan Valdez eat your heart out.

Normally, I go for the bolder blends but the promise of body and richness sold me. When I opened the package, roasted a mere 10 days ago, and poked my nose in the bag, I think my feet floated off the floor. THIS was fresh.

I will admit that the very strong chocolate notes had me a bit worried since I'm a big guns coffee drinker who shuns the frou frou when it comes to my morning bean. I found with my first sip that it was not what I thought. The blend is smooth and round on the tongue. I could taste the flavors everywhere in my mouth.

There is a hint of chocolate but more like the flavor of dark chocolate without the sugar. The palate is smooth and silky and there is just a hint of smokiness. It serves admirably as a wake up blend but would also make a lovely after dinner coffee.

I'm eager now to try the other blends. In fact, I am so sold, I may just break one of my hard and fast rules about no coffee after 2 p.m. to test one of the flavored coffees this evening.

My GF grew up in Costa Rica and we've visited several times. Their coffee can be an acquired taste, but Lordy can it ever hook you. Nice review.

Hallelieua! Thank God Pam's coffee finally arrived. Now I can imbibe without guilt. So happy for you, Pam! It's been a long time coming and you've been immensely patient, in a maniacal, ceffeine-deficient sort of way.

; )

What? Why that's just CRAZY to drink coffee after 2 p.m.!!!

Don't. Go. Nuts.

I'm soooo glad you finally got it! It took them long enough. And "round on the tongue" sounds so official. Like you're a barista-turned-critic. Nah. Chnaged my mind. It just sounds kinda sexy.

I made me drool Just me ;^)

So far Syd, I have tried 3 of the 6 coffees and the Costa Rican is far and away my favorite. I'll bet she's your favorite too. (Did I say that)?

Good grief Cheryl. I could have just trotted on over to your house to borrow a cup.

Are you strung out on coffee and can't be bothered to write a new post because your hands are shaking too much from the caffiene overdose?

Funny that I chose to comment here since I'm not actually a coffee drinker. But, I read back and got caught up since I've been busy hyperventilating and trying to get back on the blog-strolling wagon.

I may be stupid, but could you explain your lesbian vocabular in parenthasis for us non-lesbians? What is a nancy-girl? What is a MTF (got might need to use stars or astericks I suspect). I try ot be educated on People since I like them so much.

About breast feeding in public. . . Clearly, it makes people uncomfortable, but that's their problem, right? I just try to grin, bear it, and avoid staring. I'm a work in progress. . .

Ok, I think I'm done, but you never know.

Hey Just Me! I took your challenge and I may or may not have proved that my hands are not shaking. But I think that my brain is working at least on one quarter power ;^)

LOL Katy! A Nancy girl is a British slang term for a gay boy.

MTF refers to a transexual person, born a male becoming or now a female. FTM is born female becoming or now a male.

As for public breastfeeding, I have seen women do so in such a way as to be almost undetectable. I find that classy ;^)
